今回のMWC2009で展示予定のサービス、の話。

商品名Skuku、話を見る限りはVoIPなサービス。ただ他と違うのは、専用(?)のUSB stickに自分のSIMカードを刺して使う、というところ。これで、手元はVoIPな電話なのだけど、掛けた先から見たら通常の携帯電話、しかも刺したSIMの回線からかけたように見えるらしい。なので、ローミング時のコストを抑えられます、というのがこのサービスの売り。

When you are online, download Skuku software to your computer from our website. Simply plug your SIM card into the slot in your Skuku stick and plug it into your computer through the USB connection. Now launch the Skuku software that will operate your personal softphone. From now on the Skuku stick actually becomes your mobile phone. The Skuku network receives your calls for you and forwards them to your computer in real time. Our Skuku softphone receives and generates calls and SMS for you. The minute you want to move – simply plug the SIM card back into your mobile phone, and continue roaming as a regular customer.
